Everest Region

The Everest region, situated in Eastern Nepal, is considered one of the premium destinations to witness the marvel of the Himalayas. The region is protected by “Sagarmatha National Park” and “Makalu-Barun National Park “. It consists of rough, rugged, and bumpy terrains along with gorges of the Himalayas making it one of the best destinations for trekking, peak climbing, and expeditions. Besides this, the region is also acclaimed for the hospitality of the locals, most of them belonging to the ethnic Sherpa community.

After Mount Everest was first conquered by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953, the destination has become the heart of attraction for enthusiasts who are into hiking, trekking, and peak climbing. Here, the altitude ranges from around 2000 meters above sea level reaching all the way up to the top of the world i.e. Mt. Everest (8848 meters).

Out of the 14 tallest peaks in the world, the region hosts 3 of them, namely: Mt. Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8414 m), and Cho Oyu (8188 m). The journeys in this region do not only include views of the high peaks, but also comprise visits to Buddhist monasteries and Sherpa villages in Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Dingboche among others. Bio-diversity is another source of attraction for tourists visiting here; the Sagarmatha National Park is home to wildlife such as Musk Deer, Ghoral, Himalayan Thar, Red-billed chough, and many species of Pheasant. The Everest Gokyo trek with Tengboche monastery is the most traveler’s destination.

In terms of the natural vegetation, we can find Birch, Juniper, Blue Pine, fir, and Rhododendrons in the lower forest zone. As we move up, we can only find dwarf-sized shrubs and alpine steppe vegetation. "Everest Base Camp Trek, Gokyo Trek, and Three Passes Trek" are a few famous treks in this region. As of peak, Lobuche (6119 m), Island Peak Climbing (6189 m), and Mera Peak Climbing (6461m) are famous in the region. Expeditions, however, are a different story and require rigorous preparations and training before making the climb.

Generally, above 6,500 meters in altitude, expeditions to Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8414 m), Cho Oyu (8188 m), Nuptse (7861 m), and Ama Dablam (6856 m) are the preferred most in comparison to the others. Travelers even go to lengths to call the region ‘Nirvana’ because of its immense beauty. The trips possess extreme challenges even for well-trained climbers; however, we embark you on the best-guided journey. Depending upon your route, the trip may extend from 5 days to even a month long.

Since the climatic condition is extreme and highly unpredictable in this region, the best time to visit is during pre-monsoon (February, March, April, and May) and post-monsoon (late September, October, November, and December). Trek to the base camp is possible even during January and February but, the temperature will be very low at that time of the year. The rugged terrain of the region will be even harder and more challenging during winter. Contact us for the best travel memory in a Lifetime.
