Typical Day During Everest Panorama Trek

Each day in the Everest Panorama Trek begins early, usually waking up around 6:00 AM, to the greeting of crisp mountain air. Normally, breakfast is served at about 7:00 AM which includes filling meals like porridge, eggs, toast and Nepali bread, accompanied by tea or coffee. By the time you have finished your breakfast and get all your things together, it will be around  8:00 AM when you get out on the trail.

The air gets thinner as you ascend and you have to pace yourself steadily. We make frequent stops to catch our breath and drink water. Around noon, it is time for lunch. You will stop on the way to eat at a local teahouse, where the food served is simple but satisfying. This is an excellent opportunity to unwind and gain energy for the further route, as you will rest for about an hour.

Moving on you will draw closer to your destination and around 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, you arrive at the lodge where you have dinner and stay overnight. Check in and retire to your room to rest for a while and if time permits, you take a walk around the village and take pictures.

From 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, you will have dinner at a communal place where fellow trekkers, guides and porters all gather together. Private Vs Group Joining Trek Options

You basically have two options for trekking: Private Treks and Group Joining Treks. Each option has unique advantages and selecting between these two depends upon your priorities, budget and the type of experience you would like to have during the trek.

A Private Trek provides a personalized experience whereby you can make changes to the itinerary according to your choice. On this type of trekking journey, you have the option to select the people who will be included in your group. Likewise, you will have the flexibility to set the pace of the trek from the very beginning so that you can take all the time needed for acclimatization, rest and exploration. In this case, a private trek lets you linger longer in any village that interests you or take detours for photos if need be, which are not allowed by fixed schedules.

On the other hand, a group joining trek is ideal for people seeking cost efficient travel and who prefer a social way of trekking. Here, you have to share the trek with a group of random people. It allows you more room to get to know new people from around the world. However, in this option, the guide usually sets the itinerary and pace for the group and you have very little control over the schedule. While the shared experience can be fun and help create new friendships, it can be challenging if the group dynamic does not align with your own personal preferences.

If comfort, personalized attention and a flexible schedule are your priorities, a private trek will doubtless provide an optimal experience. However, if you are after a more social atmosphere or are somewhat economizing, then a group trek is your better option.

Reasons for Doing Everest Panorama Trek

360 Degree Mountain Vista

One of the major highlights of the Everest View Trek is the grand panoramic vista of lofty snow capped peaks such as Everest, Cho Oyu, Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and many other mountains.

The splendid visions of these towering giants go hand in hand during the trek. While the journey does not actually take you to the base of Everest you can have close up experiences with the mountain. The views from the Tengboche Monastery are particularly awesome.

Cultural Exchange With the Sherpa People

During the Everest Panorama Trek, you will have great opportunities for an immersive cultural experience as you pass through various quaint Sherpa hamlets. Sherpa people are known for their genuine hospitality, rich cultural heritage and connection with nature.

During the trek you interact with the locals, learn about their customs and gain insight into their way of life. For further cultural enrichment, you have the option of visiting Buddhist monasteries and chortens, where you can witness chants and prayers of monks and lamas and different religious practices.

Accessible and Easy

Everest Panorama Trek is accessible for trekkers of all levels. With a maximum altitude of 3,860 meters at Tengboche, the trek is designed for those who want to avoid excessive physical exertion while enjoying the incredible beauty of the Everest region equally. On the other hand, the relatively lower altitude of the trek reduces the risk of altitude sickness, making it a safer option for those new to high altitude trekking.

Short Duration

The Everest Panorama Trek is completed within 8 to 12 days. It makes the trek ideal for trekkers who have less time but are willing to experience the vastness of the Everest region. As the trek can easily fit within a two week period, you have an ideal balance of adventure, exploration and relaxation.

Diverse Picturesque Landscapes

During the trek, you will experience a variation of landscapes, from the vibrant forests and expansive alpine meadows to the rugged landscapes around Tengboche. All along the way, you will traverse suspension bridges, pass quaint villages with stone houses and walk past many significant religious landmarks.

Less Crowded and More Peaceful

The Everest Panorama Trek follows a bit less frequented route than the regular Everest Base Camp Trek. So, it gets relatively fewer trekkers, offering a more serene experience. This allows trekkers to enjoy the beauty and peace of the mountains without the crowds, making it feel like a more personal journey.

    Useful Information

Best Time to Go on the Everest Panorama Trek

The Everest Panorama trek is best experienced during the spring and autumn seasons with favorable temperature and weather conditions. March to May and September to November months in the pre monsoon spring and the post monsoon autumn provide mild temperatures and stable weather for comforting outdoor trekking adventures.

Additionally, you can expect to inhale the fresh mountain air and travel cozily under the soothing warmth of the gentle sun. The temperature is moderate (neither too hot nor too cold) and cool breezes hit your cheeks often. The atmosphere is free of hazes, dust, and other disturbing factors. Likewise, there is less cloud cover, a clear sky, and optimal visibility conditions, all contributing to the excellent mountain vistas.

The trekking trails of the Everest region remain unwet and clean in spring and autumn. This is because of the reduced precipitation and dry climatic states. As a result, there is no problem with muddy or slippery routes, and you enjoy smooth and comfortable walks. Likewise, due to the weather stability, the risk of natural disasters such as floods, landslides, avalanches and storms is significantly reduced at this time. This will certainly make your travel safe, easier and more fun.

Both spring and autumn seasons are visually appealing. The heavy blossoms of diverse colored flowers (in spring) and the Himalayan landscapes adorned with mesmerizing fall foliage (in autumn) make the Everest Panorama Trek a truly unforgettable experience.

    Difficulty Level

The Everest Panorama Trek is a quick and relatively easy alternative to the Everest Base Camp Trek. However, it comes with its own share of challenges. This adventurous undertaking in the mountains is a moderately difficult journey through the remote and rugged high altitude terrains.

Given that Everest Panorama Trek difficulty is moderate, it is a suitable adventure for beginners who are on their first journey to the mountains. Even families with kids and elderly people participate in this trek. The maximum altitude of the Everest View Trek is 3,867 meters at Tengboche. This makes the trek manageable for most people, with a lower risk of altitude sickness and moderate physical demands. Having said that, proper hydration and acclimatization are always important to practice.

Likewise, Everest Panorama trekking trails are a mix of smooth, steep and rocky. The boulders and narrow mountain paths with several ascends and descends make the journey physically demanding. Moreover, most days, you walk about 5 to 7 hours. As a whole, the journey requires a moderate level of fitness. Cardiovascular and strength exercises can help prepare your body to upgrade physically.

The unpredictable high altitude weather is another difficulty during this mountain journey which changes quickly. So, it is essential to check weather updates and prepare accordingly with layered clothes and feasible itineraries.

Physical and Mental Preparation for the Adventure

Even though the Everest View Trek is less demanding than the Everest Base Camp trek, it does involve a number of long days of hiking on varied terrain with steep ascents and descents. Thus, sound physical and mental preparation is essential to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable journey. With proper fitness, endurance and a positive mindset, you can handle the challenges of the trek and make the most of stunning views and cultural experiences along the way.

Walking, running, cycling or swimming in cardiovascular exercises are highly effective in building endurance to trek for several hours each day. Likewise, strength training like squats, lunges, step ups, planks, etc., help improve your core stability and balance on uneven terrains.

Besides that hiking with a loaded backpack prepares you to simulate the weight carried during the trek. If possible, ascending to higher elevations will help your body better prepare for altitude. While the trek does not exceed 3,867 meters, your body still need to adjust to thinner air.

Moreover, to overcome several trek challenges, a positive mindset is important. Mental strength can help you carry through moments of fatigue or difficulty. As a whole, good physical and mental preparation makes you ready to face both the physical demands and the mental challenges of this remote Himalayan adventure.

The rooms in teahouses are simple and shared. You get two to three beds in one room. In each bed, you get pillows, a thick and warm blanket and mattresses. Likewise, you share toilets (mostly squat types) and bathrooms along with dining halls. For hot showers, WiFi and charging facilities, you have to pay an additional fee. Likewise, it is important to know that the facilities and availability of teahouses decline the higher you go. Conversely, their prices increase.

The meals in teahouses are prepared from local crops and vegetables that are grown on the terraced farms of the villagers. So, they are fresh, nutritious and good for your health. The menu in teahouses consists of both local and Western cuisines to meet the taste of diverse trekkers who visit the region.

You get to enjoy a wide range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items during your teahouse stay in different villages along the trek route.

Dalbhat is the main meal in teahouses, consisting of rice, vegetable curries, lentils and pickles. Additionally, noodles, momo, chowmein, Yak steaks, flatbreads, eggs, jam bread, thukpa, mushroom soup, potato curry, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, etc. enjoyed.

Importance of Guides and Porters for the Trek

Guides and porters are crucial to making your trek easy, informative, immersive, smooth, enjoyable and successful. Guides usually have extensive knowledge regarding the different trekking destinations. They are the key persons who lead you along the trails and help you navigate efficiently. Guides accompany trekkers throughout the journey giving historical and cultural information and pinpointing natural attractions along the way.

Besides, guides help avoid the risk of altitude sickness by maintaining a proper pace and ensuring adequate acclimatization. They are usually trained in first aid and can take care of emergencies to ensure trekkers stay safe for the entire duration.

Porters, on the other hand, carry your heavy gear, relieving you of the burden and allowing you to enjoy the trek fully. Their familiarity with the terrain lets them walk effortlessly with loads ranging from 15 to 25 kg. It is an invaluable support for trekkers who only have to take light daypacks.

Together, guides and porters enhance both the safety and enjoyment of the trek, making them integral to a successful and enriching Everest View Trek.

    Possibility of Altitude Sickness

The maximum height of 3,867 meters at Tengboche reached during the Everest View Trek is considered moderate. However there is still the possibility of altitude sickness if you ascend too quickly without proper acclimatization.

Gradual ascent helps you acclimate to the altitude (reduced oxygen levels) and minimize the risk of altitude sickness. Additionally, staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol and cigarettes, sleeping well and eating well rounded meals also assist in preventing altitude sickness. So, take the trek steadily and allow frequent breaks to keep you hydrated and rested whenever needed.

The symptoms of altitude sickness include headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, sleeplessness and loss of appetite. If you begin to notice any of these signs, stop ascending and go down to the familiar altitude. Only think of trekking further after you fully recover from the symptoms.

    Need of Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is important for any Himalayan trekking adventure taking place in remote, isolated and high altitude locations. During the Everest Panorama Trek, you will be exposed to potential circumstances like altitude sickness, accidents, medical emergencies and unexpected delays.

Travel insurance gives you the necessary protection against financial insecurity in case of unforeseen happenings during the journey. In remote mountainous regions, medical facilities are few and far between. Insurance covers medical treatment which includes hospital transfers, doctor visits, medicine bills and emergency evacuation.

Moreover, in emergency cases, evacuation using helicopters is the only way, which is extremely costly. Travel insurance would cover a large portion of such expenditure, saving you from a massive financial load.

Besides, travel insurance provides coverage for trip cancellations or interruptions caused by illness, family emergency or other unexpected reasons. It usually covers your non refundable expenses like flight tickets, accommodation and trekking fees.

Another coverage provided by travel insurance is lost or delayed luggage. In such cases, the insurance offer a replacement to ensure you are equipped with essential items. This includes clothing, gear and other personal belongings needed for your trek.

All in all, with travel insurance you will have indispensable protection against losses and peace of mind knowing that you are covered.

    • Great trek to Teng Boche

We just finished a great trek to Teng Boche with Ace Vision Treks and Trips. Ganesh tailored the trek to suit our schedule and abilities, and Santhosh was an expert guide who took excellent care of us from start to finish.

We got a good break in the weather, with the late-to-leave monsoon finally ending so that we could fly from Kathmandu to Lukla on schedule, before all flights got shifted to Ramechap. The lodgings in Phakding, Namche Bazaar and Teng Boche were very comfortable, with plenty of good food.

On the trail Santhosh took good care of us, making sure the fit folks didn’t move too fast, and that the slow and steady didn’t feel rushed. He took extra care with the one member of the party who didn’t like the high bridges... such good care that the person later solo’ed the last bridge.

At the lodgings he made sure we had good rooms with great views (important in Namche and Teng Boche), and got our food orders in early so we could eat on time and not have to wait.

All and all a great trek with a reliable company. We will definitely use Ace Vision Nepal on our next visit!
