Annapurna Region

A region revered for the elevated section of the Himalayas covering a wide range of cultural and geographical varieties, the Annapurna region, also recognized as a naturalist paradise, is one of the most fascinating regions on Earth. The snowy tapestry of the mighty Himalayas, incredibly diverse scenery, and the warm hospitality of the people of diverse ethnic backgrounds welcome thousands of tourists each year. Located in north-central Nepal, the Annapurna region is 55 km long surrounded by the spectacular Kali Gandaki Gorge from the west, Pokhara from the south, Marsayangdi River east, and Mustang to the north.

Undoubtedly the most famous travel destination in Nepal, this region alone attracts over two-thirds of the visitors. As such, Pokhara is the entrance to the majority of the trips into the Annapurna region. Besisahar is another popular trailhead as well. Offering an incredibly diverse scenery, high spectacular mountains, and lowlands, the Annapurna region shows presents enchanting views of the peaks such as Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8163m), Annapurna I (8091m), Machhapuchhre (6997m), Nilgiri (7061m), Tukuche peak (6940m), and the entire Annapurna massif among others. Poonhill viewpoint, globally acclaimed for offering the ravishing display of the Himalayas, Thorung La Pass (5416m), Mohare Danda, and many other vantage points has breathtaking views of the store. Similarly magnificent are the trails in the Annapurna Conservation Area which host a multitude of diverse flora and fauna providing a brilliant escapade to fellow explorers. Apart from the enchanting natural endorsements of the region, it is also adorned with ethnic communities of varying cultures and beliefs. While the heart-warming Gurung, Magar, and Ghale are prevalent in the southern half of the Annapurna region, the upper half is predominated by the Tibetan- influenced ethnicities. Ghorepani, Ghandruk, Jhinu Danda, and Ghalegaon are the villages in the lower half. Whereas, Pisang, Manang, and Khangsar are prime instances of villages where the Tibetan-Buddhism has flourished and the monasteries, Chortens, and the prevalent lifestyle depict the belief. The restricted valleys of Nar and Phu add more intrigue to the travelers with those valleys requiring a special permit for visit. Similarly, customization to include Tilicho Lake on the travel itineraries offers a venture into the alpine haven of the Annapurna region.

The famous treks in this region are Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek, Jomsom Muktinath Trek, and the Royal Trek to name a few. Similarly, Chulu (6429m), Pisang (6091m), Mardi Himal (5553m), and Tent Peak (5695m) are famous peak climbing destinations in the region. Furthermore, the Himalayas in Annapurna massif are ripe for expeditions with the expedition to Annapurna I (8091m) the most preferred one.

With such many destinations to choose from, the Annapurna region has been rightly claimed to be a traveler’s paradise. As such, the region is prime for travels during autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May). During these seasons, the Himalayas are vividly displayed and the trails to are pleasant for the trips.
