With proper preparation and careful pacing and by following the well-balanced itinerary, the trek's challenges can be handled easily. Well-prepared beginners can enjoy the journey and even conclude it successfully.

      • Pikey Peak trek is a moderately difficult journey. However, most adventurers can complete it without facing major challenges. Still, if you train beforehand, navigating the steep uphill and downhill sections becomes easier.

For this trek, you may train for 2 to 3 months before doing basic cardio and strength exercises. Some examples of cardio are cycling, climbing the stairs, jogging, swimming and running. Likewise, experts also highly recommend strength training such as deadlifts, step ups, planks, push-ups, squats, etc.

      • Internet and Wi-Fi facilties are available at most of the tea houses along the Pikey Peak’s trail. However, the quality can vary, especially in the remote areas of the upper sections. Also, to get wifi access, you have to pay extra. The cost generally ranges between US$2 and US$5.

      • Yes, we recommend that you carry cash during the Pikey Peak trek. Cash is needed for making payments for personal expenses. The small stores, tea houses and shops of remote areas generally accept only cash. It is the most dependable form of payment and is a necessity during the Pikey Peak trek.

      • Yes, you will find small shops or stores where you can buy snacks but options can be limited. The price can also be quite high in such areas. So, it is wise to bring snacks from the city area to get quick energy in between meals.

      • While ascending towards Pikey Peak (about 4,065 m), it is important to be attentive to your body's signs. At such an elevation there is a likelihood of getting altitude sickness especially if you can't adjust to the higher elevation.

Some common signs include headaches, nausea, dizziness, appetite loss, fatigue, shortness of breath, and having difficulties to sleep.

      • If you experience mild altitude sickness symptoms, stop immediately and rest. Make sure to inform your guide. Also, refrain from ascending any higher.

      • During the Pikey Peak trek, your guide will check the weather patterns. They will always make sure that you head out only when conditions are favourable. However, if the weather suddenly changes, then it is crucial to stay calm.

Stop trekking when the weather doesn't seem favourable. Your guide will take you to a secure area or a teahouse. Wait until conditions improve since paths can easily get dangerous under such circumstances.

Second, always carry proper rain gear such as a rain jacket and a rain cover. In case visibility is affected by fog and/or snow, make sure to stay together with the group and guide and do not stray from the group.

      • The bottled water and boiled water available at the tea houses are safe for drinking. However, we advise not to drink it directly from tap or natural sources.

To avoid getting sick while using natural source water, we advise you to bring water purification tablets. You can ask about the purification process with guides and drink water once it has been properly treated.

      • During the Pikey Peak Trek, you will be navigating through difficult terrains in Himalayas with steep and uneven paths. Although it will be an enriching experience for you, being at such a high altitude means certain risks can arise.

By getting insurance that covers high altitude trek, you can navigate Pikey Peak’s trails while being assured that you are financially protected and wont have to worry about managing cash in case of unexpected emergencies that can arise while trekking.
